Sanisorb X® Medical Liquid Solidifier

Sanisorb X® from Multisorb Technologies, Inc. is the first and only infectious waste fluid solidifier and sanitizer that has achieved EPA Registration (EPA Reg. No. 72675-1). Sanisorb X® provides easier, safer and faster infectious waste fluid containment in operating room suction canisters, Red Bag waste and other medical containers. The liquid solidifier features a patented self-bursting technology that quickly absorbs and immobilizes infectious bio-fluids.

Medical personnel simply drop the Sanisorb X® pouch into a suction canister or container and it dissolves within minutes on contact with fluid to solidify and treat the waste. The waste is sanitized at the point of generation, minimizing exposure to operating staff and patients. Hospital operating room supervisors, infection control coordinators and risk management professionals in medical facilities across the U.S. are specifying Sanisorb X® to reduce the risks associated with the handling of infectious waste.

According to a spokesperson for Medina Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, Sanisorb X® offers a better alternative to competitive product designs such as polymers in bottles. "We have been using the Sanisorb X® pouches for a long time and they allow us to incinerate our suction canisters more efficiently," he explained. "The pouches also allow us to control the amount used and help control cost."

The pre-measured Sanisorb X® rupturing pouches eliminate the tearing and spillage associated with conventional products. Sanisorb X® creates no harmful vapors, noxious odors or dust associated with other treatment agents and it reduces particulates and bacterial exposure. These characteristics were important factors in the decision to use Sanisorb X® by administrators at St. Vincent Hospital, also in Cleveland, Ohio.

"We are very pleased to have our suction canisters treated for biological growth with Sanisorb X® pouches," reported a manager at the hospital. "Neutralizing the exposure for our staff is very important and the dissolvable pouch is a better way to administer the product into the suction canisters."

Studies have shown greater than 99.9% reduction in Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Salmonella choleraesuis after 30 minutes when Sanisorb X® pouches are used. The Sanisorb X® pouches are registered in all states except California as a solidifier and sanitizer for medical waste. The pouches convert from Red Bag waste to White Bag waste in Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
