Multisorb Sorbent Solutions Are First To Meet ASTM Shipping Standards
Buffalo, NY - June 2009
Provides Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Assurance that Sorbent Technology Will Protect Products throughout Distribution
Multisorb Technologies announced today that its StabilOx® and SorbiCap® canisters as well as MiniPax® and StripPax® packets are the first active packaging technologies to comply with the American Society for Testing of Materials (ASTM) standards with regard to performance testing of shipping containers and systems.
Compliance with this standard assures pharmaceutical manufacturers, many of whom use these tests as part of their quality assurance programs, that sorbent technology incorporated into their product design and packaging will remain in good condition throughout the distribution cycle. This ensures optimal protection from moisture-mediated degradation and oxidation, safeguarding product integrity.
Testing was conducted in accordance with ASTM 4169-08 and ASTM 999-08 standards, which provide a uniform basis for evaluating the ability of transport packaging to withstand the distribution environment, using established test methods and test levels representative of those occurring in an actual distribution. This is accomplished by subjecting transport packaging to a sequence of hazard elements encountered in the various relevant distribution cycles and evaluating performance.
“Multisorb is committed to providing the highest quality products to pharmaceutical manufacturers,” says James V. Renda, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Multisorb Technologies. “We have proactively designed our products to meet the ASTM test criteria to assure our customers that the active packaging components used to protect their products meet these high standards.”
