MULTISORB TECHNOLOGIES SHOWCASES INNOVATIVE SORBENT SOLUTIONS AT THE 2008 IFT ANNUAL MEETING Company Offerings Help Food Manufacturers Increase Product Shelf Life and Maintain Quality

Buffalo, NY – (June 29, 2008) − Multisorb Technologies, the global leader in advanced active packaging technologies, will highlight three sorbent solutions as well as a comprehensive packaging program at the IFT Annual Meeting 2008, June 29-July 1 at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, booth #1203.  By utilizing Multisorb’s offerings, food and beverage manufacturers and packers can preserve the quality, appearance, and shelf life of their products.

The company will highlight:

Its easy-to-use MAPLOXSM (modified atmosphere packaging low oxygen) packaging system that maintains refrigerated meat in just-cut condition throughout distribution. This system is comprised of Multisorb’s FreshPax® CR oxygen scavengers and an APA-500 FreshPax dispenser and is designed to extend the saleable life of fresh meat while enabling retailers to benefit from the savings of central location packaging.  The system enables manufacturers to bring fresh and visually appealing beef, pork, lamb, veal and other value-added meat products to consumers, with minimized waste and returns.

In addition to spotlighting the MAPLOX system, Multisorb executives will discuss the company’s comprehensive MAPLOX program, which provides a roadmap for case-ready packers who are just starting with low-oxygen packaging. As part of the program, Multisorb experts consult packers on various aspects of their packaging applications, including primary package materials and specifications, master bag specification, vacuum/gas flush composition, functional requirements as well as FreshPax CR sizing and handling methods and APA-500 FreshPax dispenser features. FreshPax® S, an innovative active packaging technology that combines oxygen and moisture management capabilities.  By inhibiting oxidative and moisture-mediated degradation, FreshPax® S extends shelf life and helps maintain flavor, aroma, texture and mouth feel in prepared foods, especially those comprised of dough or incorporating a filling, such as refrigerated pizza and pocket sandwiches.

FreshCard™, a versatile sorbent solution that regulates oxygen levels within food packaging to extend shelf life and maintain the color and flavor of  foods such as baked snacks, breads, nutrition bars, cookies, cakes, nuts, moist and semi-moist meats. In addition, FreshCard can be custom-sized for the individual application to function as a structural support mechanism, protecting products throughout packaging and distribution. The FreshCard face and back offers additional branding space for promotional or instructional copy; cost-effectively performing three functions simultaneously: oxygen scavenging, structural packaging support and marketing.

Multisorb executives and technology experts will be available at the booth to discuss the company’s products and applications, as well as its full range of value-added services.
