Multisorb Introduces Moisture Management Technology to Ensure Stability of Diagnostic Devices
(Buffalo, NY - July 16, 2007) – Multisorb Technologies, a global leader in cutting-edge active packaging technologies, introduces moisture management technology to address special moisture needs of in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) devices to ensure device stability.
IVDs that include reagents can lose their performance characteristics in the presence of moisture, leading to inaccuracy and imprecision in test results. Multisorb’s moisture management technology can control and/or modify the packaging atmosphere within the primary or secondary package, which is often subjected to varying temperature and humidity conditions during manufacture, transport, and storage. By maintaining the relative humidity at a specified level within the package, Multisorb’s technologies offer a simple and cost effective solution for combating moisture-related degradation of IVDs.
Multisorb’s moisture management technology can also open up business opportunities in new geographic markets. Temperature and humidity fluctuations can cause moisture build up inside packaging. If the humidity condition inside the package is stabilized at a desired level, devices will give consistent results across varying climates and laboratory conditions.
“The reliability of IVDs is crucial to accurate patient diagnosis and recommendations for medical care,” says Robert Sabdo, business development leader, Multisorb Technologies. “Our moisture management technology ensures the integrity of test results by maintaining IVD product performance throughout the shelf life,” he adds.
Editor’s Notes: Company executives will be available to discuss Multisorb’s moisture management technology for in-vitro diagnostics at the AACC Annual Meeting & Clinical Lab Expo 2007, July 15 - 19 in San Diego, CA, Booth #5001.
