Multisorb Technologies Enables Manufacturers to Minimize Moisture Damage and Maintain Product Integrity During Shipment

Manufacturers and distributors are increasingly faced with the challenges of lengthening distribution chains and global supply networks. With a significant portion of a product’s lifespan spent in transport, it is critical to address the threat of moisture damage to ensure product integrity during shipment. To meet this need, Multisorb Technologies, the global leader in active packaging solutions, has developed TranSorb®, a patented desiccant blend that prevents product damage by adsorbing moisture in cargo shipping containers.
High humidity levels and temperature fluctuations during shipping can cause “container rain,” a phenomenon in which accumulated condensation falls onto merchandise within containers during transport by ocean, truck, rail and air. This causes damage in a wide array of products. Metallic items, such as canned food and steel machinery, are subject to corrosion and rust. Mold and mildew can form on dry goods such as bulk powders and pet foods. Finished products shipped overseas in final consumer packaging are also subject to moisture damage, preventing them from final sale in the retail market.
Specially formulated to aggressively adsorb moisture within cargo shipping containers, TranSorb provides protection for the entire duration of a shipment’s transit. This patented desiccant formulation is conveniently packaged and easy to use. It also features a long lasting heat-sealed Tyvek design to eliminate the risk of leakage. In addition to standard single bags, bags with self-adhesive backing, and 3-bag strips, Multisorb can also provide custom solutions based on customer specifications.
TranSorb is non-hazardous and safe for disposal, and is also available in formulations designed to manage moisture in refrigerated and frozen environments, reducing condensation build-up and eliminating freezer frost. In addition to cargo container applications, Transorb is used to protect goods in warehouse storage environments.
“In today’s global marketplace, manufacturers often move their products over vast geographical areas. Marketers must ensure that packaged goods and other products can be transported without damage, which can impact brand integrity at point-of-purchase and jeopardize product safety,” says Russell D'Anna, Business Development Leader -Transport Moisture Control at Multisorb Technologies. “Designed to function in a variety of heat and humidity conditions, TranSorb allows shippers to control the internal container environment, providing peace of mind to brand owners that their products will reach the market in the intended condition.”
